Travel trailer, bay boat and pickup parked under covered storage stalls at sunset in southeast Houston

Southeast Houston is boat-and-truck country. With Clear Lake, Kemah and Galveston Bay a short drive south and plenty of work trucks and trailers on the road, a lot of households here own more vehicles than their driveway can hold. Add city parking rules, deed restrictions and narrow streets, and finding a safe place for the boat or camper becomes a real problem.

Almeda Genoa Storage, at 9601 Almeda Genoa Rd, Houston, TX 77075, was built for exactly this. Here's how to choose the right space.

Step 1: Know your options

SpaceBest for
Open parking (20' × 10')Cars, trucks, motorcycles, jet skis, utility trailers up to ~18'
Carport (covered)Cars and trucks that need sun and hail protection
Boat & RV stall (24' × 10', 12' clearance)Boats on trailers, pop-ups, small travel trailers, enclosed trailers up to ~24'
Shipping container (28' × 8' × 9')Household goods, tools, materials, inventory
Food truck space (paved)Food trucks and concession trailers

Step 2: Measure correctly

  • Boats: measure from the tip of the trailer tongue to the back of the outboard or swim platform. A "20-foot boat" is often 24' or more on its trailer.
  • RVs and campers: measure hitch to bumper, and check roof height including A/C units and antennas. Our stalls have 12' of clearance.
  • Trailers: include the tongue and any ramp gate.

Step 3: Prep it for storage

  • Drain all water and pull the drain plug
  • Add fuel stabilizer and run the engine to circulate it
  • Flush outboards after saltwater use
  • Remove electronics, life jackets and valuables
  • Use a fitted, breathable cover

RVs and campers

  • Empty and clean black, gray and fresh water tanks
  • Remove all food to avoid pests
  • Cover tires to protect them from UV
  • Disconnect batteries or use a tender
  • Close blinds and crack a roof vent for airflow

Cars and trucks

  • Keep registration and insurance current
  • Fill the tank and add stabilizer
  • Use a battery tender
  • Use a carport or cover to protect paint from Houston sun

Step 4: Understand the costs

Pricing depends on the type of space. See live rates on our Spaces & Prices page. At move-in you'll pay the first month (prorated), a one-time move-in fee and a security deposit, all itemized before you pay.
